To Ms. Judith Schwarcz, “the magician”,
There are no words to express my gratitude, my amazement or even my appreciation. Thank you, thank you and thousands of thanks for the miracle you have performed!
I reached you through your Internet site, spoke to you on the telephone, and felt that at the other end of the line there was someone who cared! Someone who was a human being, a human being who really wanted to help. I felt emotional when I spoke to you, and tears fell from my eyes to think that there are still good people like you in this world. I actually received two gifts from you, or perhaps it’s better to say that two dreams came true. This is why I call you Judith the Magician.
When I contacted you, I needed guidance for my son Avi, a fifteen-year-old boy with severe dyslexia and dysgraphia, who up to that time had refused to approach reading and writing, and had used many manipulations to avoid it as much as possible. Sitting with a book and reading one paragraph used to make him get angry and stressed, to move his leg throughout the reading, and to spend a lot of energy to complete a task that for most of us is very simple and requires no effort at all. And in the end, he did not understand at all what he had read.
My first dream was to put Avi into a high school that specializes in helping children with learning disabilities. I did not know you; I had not met you, and had never heard of you. But, what a miracle, after the telephone conversation, you invited me to your house, opened your door to me and spent time giving my son and me help and guidance regarding what we had to do in order to get Avi into the school. Thanks, and thanks again, and a million thanks, it worked! Even now when I write these words I cannot believe it. It is like a dream come true.
The second dream of mine, of Avi’s, of my mother’s, of Avi’s father’s, of Avi’s brothers’, of the whole family, was that Avis would at last be able to read one day. To want to read. To be able to read without getting upset and sweating. To understand what he was reading. To read alone without help.
Judith with her generous heart identified Avi’s potential, and decided to take him for five intensive days and work with him on instilling and strengthening reading skills using the Davis method, voluntarily and without any payment. Even now as I write these lines, I still cannot believe this is really happening, and no a dream.
Today is the third day that my son is taking the program. I was invited by Judith to come with Avi in order to see how they work with him, and so I can continue working with him at home. I think what has happened is wonderful. A miracle has happened, there is no other word to describe what I have seen.
Avi was sitting and just reading like all the other children. Even though I sat next to him and saw and heard my son reading, I still cannot believe that this is really happening. He read without any tension. He read without sweating. He read and finally understood what he was reading. Without moving his leg nervously. I felt he was even enjoying himself.
I am writing these lines and feel thrilled, what a joy that there are people like Judith in this world. What a joy that people like Judith care about our children. What pleasure that Judith can reach the children who need her.
God bless Judith.
Judith, thank you, thank you and thank you again. You are wonderful. Take care of yourself for all of us. May you continue to succeed.
